CONNIE - THE TUB PICTURE MIGHT INDICATE THAT BOB AND DEE WERE TOO POOR TO HAVE A BATHTUB BUT ACTUALLY THEY DID.  JBG IS MY DAD’S FATHER, REV. JAMES GRAMBLING.  CONNIE IS ON HIS LAP IN 1947.  THE CHRISTMAS CARD PICTURE WAS TAKEN IN 1949.

This is Connie making sounds on a clarinet

Connie creating sounds with a trumpet. She stayed with the flute & was much better at it.

Piano

Donnie Hinton, Kay Cunningham and Connie. They made a great flute trio.

CONNIE AND MIDGE WERE PHOTOGRAPHED IN FRONT OF THE HOUSE ON ASH STREET IN 1950.  THE PENDLETONS LIVED IN THE WHITE HOUSE ACROSS THE STREET AND THE RUSSELLS LIVED IN THE HOUSE TO THE LEFT OF THAT.

THE LSU SHIRT ON THE TRICYCLE, THE PICTURE IN THE TREE AND CONNIE GETTING FRIENDLY WITH TECH IX WERE ALL TAKEN IN 1951.  IF TECH IX HAD KNOWN SHE WOULD GO TO CENTENARY AND LSU HE WOULD HAVE BITTEN HER.

THE STRAW HAT PICTURE WITH A YOUNG COOKIE WAS TAKEN ABOUT THE SAME TIME AS THE ONE WITH MIDGE.  IN 1953, GOVERNOR KENNON CAME TO MINDEN FOR A FOOTBALL GAME, I THINK HOMECOMING.  BOB TOOK THE PICTURE OF CONNIE AND BUTCH WILLIAMS WITH THE GOV. AND HIS WIFE.  NOTICE HOW EXCITED CONNIE LOOKS.  SHE AND BUTCH HAD CARRIED THE CROWNS FOR THE HOMECOMING ROYALTY.  CAN YOU GUESS HER AGE IN THE PICTURE LABELED, “CONNIE AGE 8”?

This was taken at one of Connie's birthday parties.

Kneeling: Marsha Phillips, Jeanne Ratcliff, Linda Patterson, Shirley Patterson, Brenda Pilcher & Greg Grambling

Standing: Janet Allen, Betty Lou Cunningham, Janet Martin, Connie Grambling, Marilyn Brown, Ann Roberts & Mary Margaret Evans

Gov. & Mrs. Kennon with Connie and Butch Williams

Connie on TV was taken during one of her appearances on TV when she was on Teentime.

PARTY IS SOME FUNCTION AROUND 64 AT AN UNKNOWN LOCATION.  ON THE LEFT I RECOGNIZE LARRY HOCK, MARILYN BROWN, AND CONNIE.  ON THE FAR RIGHT I RECOGNIZE CELIA JONES. NOT SURE WHO TOOK THE PICTURE.  CANDY IS A BOB SHOT OF CONNIE RUNNING TO PICK UP CANDY AT A PARADE BUT THERE ARE LOTS OF OTHER FOLKS TOO.  SOMEBODY MIGHT FIND THEIR MOTHER IN THIS PICTURE.

Connie during the mid fifties

CONNIE ATTENDED MHS FROM 1960-64.  SHE GRADUATED IN 64 (TOP10 BUT I CAN’T REMEMBER WHERE)  THE 66 SHOT WAS WHEN SHE WAS A CENTENARY AND THE SWING SHOT WAS AFTER WE MOVED TO SHREVEPORT.  63 IS A PICTURE OF BOTH OF US AROUND 1963

FOR THOSE WHO DON’T REMEMBER, CONNIE PLAYED THE FLUTE…STILL DOES OVER 50 YEARS LATER.  THE PICTURES PROGRESS FROM EARLY YEARS (FLUTE1) THROUGH HER SENIOR RECITAL AT CENTENARY (PICTURED WITH ROBERT EARHAR, HER ACCOMPANIES) TO A PICTURE MADE BY A PROFESSIONAL PHOTOGRAPH IN COLUMBIA, SC, SHORTLY AFTER SHE STARTED TEACHING FLUTE THERE IN 1971.  SHE GRADUATED FROM CENTENARY IN 1968 (BA-MUSIC ED) LSU 1970 (MA-FLUTE) AND LSU  1976? ( DMA DR. OF MUSICAL ART-FLUTE)  THE PAINTING WAS DONE BY MY MOTHER’S SISTER ALMA TRELLES WHILE CONNIE WAS AT LSU.  YES, DALI WAS STILL ALIVE THEN.

Greg and Connie Grambling, Christmas, 1962, He has just switched from Clarinet to Bassoon

and was still using the neck strap while in 7th grade.  Connie played the flute.

IN 1972, CONNIE MET AND MARRIED GEORGE BERTRAM (GB) LANE, WHO HAD COME TO THE UNIVERSITY OF SOUTH CAROLINA AS  A TROMBONE TEACHER.  SOME YEARS LATER (1984) THEY HAD BRANDIE. THE PICTURE, BLGBSL SHOWS CONNIE’S HUSBAND GB WITH TWO OF HIS THREE GIRLS, BRANDIE ON THE LEFT AND SIOUX Z ON THE RIGHT.

BRANDIE IS THE LATEST ONE OF HER.  SHE’S NOW A JUNIOR AT THE UNIVERSITY OF MIAMI MAJORING IN MUSICAL ENGINEERING.
